The retouching is very common in the field of photography since the advent of computers. However, this practice is not a new one. It has been used for the last two centuries , although, not very common. We present a collection of retouched photographs since 1840.
The exhibition Faking It in the Metropolitan Museum of New York shows a series of 200 photographs to trace the history of the retouching since the nineteenth century.
