This is the commune of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins situated on the bank of river Loire, where the river enters the Bay of Biscay. Since 2012, this area houses the “Snake Ocean” by Huang Yong Ping. Composed entirely of aluminum, this giant serpent structure is over 130 meters long. This sculpture was made with a point of view to be exhibited at the Estuary 2012, a festival of contemporary art.
This work by Huang Yong Ping is a hybrid of culture and identity. The environment also plays a very important role in this work, when tide is low we see the serpent appears to be on the beach while with a high tide the serpent appears to return to its marine habitat. Thus, depending on weather, tide levels and the angle of view, the Ocean Serpent seems to change its shape every day. Discover without delay this magnificent and gigantic marine skeleton.

This work of art is truly an example of breathtaking gigantic realism: when the tide is high, we really think that a giant creature is swimming on the surface of the water. What do you think of this sculpture sitting on the banks of the Loire ?
