Technology of magnetic robots exists since the last few years, but it has been recently developed. The system operates through a circuit that allows an operator to move the robot upto small distance with a speed of 35 cm per second. Each robotic unit can act alone or join with others to complete larger scale tasks. It is easy to draw a parallel with the ants and how they self-organize. In theory, such machines could be made of any size to move an object of any size on a vertical or a curved surfaces. Example videos:

We are very impressed with these mini robots. We never imagined that they are able to perform such feats in such a quick and precise manner. We hope that these machines continue to evolve to become more efficient and we can not wait to see what they can make in the future.
