A heavy-lift ship, Blue Marlin Ibiza, has been introduced that can submerge into the water and lets the ships, oil rigs and yachts float over its flat cargo deck.
The heavy ship sinks itself into the water with the help of numerous ballast tanks. The tanks can easily be flooded.
Once the cargo is loaded on the deck, air is pumped into these tanks which results in lift up of cargo deck.
Lifting and transporting large objects is a real problem even in this age. The situation becomes even worse when the objects are unable to be designed and manufactured in smaller modules. Sea ships are considered to be the best solution for transporting large objects but they are also unable to transport oil rigs. To combat this issue, a heavy-lift ship has been introduced that can submerge into the water and lets the ships, oil rigs and yachts float over its flat cargo deck.
The ship sinks itself into the water with the help of numerous ballast tanks. The tanks can easily be flooded. Once the cargo is floated on the deck, air is pumped into these tanks which results in lift up of cargo deck. The heavy-lift ships have already been used in saving two US warships; one in Yemen and the other in Iran. However, the new heavy-lift ship Dockwise Vanguard has become the world’s largest heavy-lift ship. The amazing ship is 70m wide and 275m long with the capacity to bear the weight up to 120,000 tonns.
