The display system Leia (LDS) is a giant step in the development of interactive holographic displays. It uses a combination of light, water vapors and air to create a transparent screen onto which images are projected while cameras record the movement of users for interaction with images.
In reality, this new technology is not a hologram in the proper sense (a hologram must contain information in three-dimensional space), here a fog screen with the thickness of 6mm gives impression to our naked eye that we are seeing a hologram.
Currently, the available screens measures either 95 cm x 65 cm or 3 mx 2.5 m depending on the version, but can be many screens can be linked together to make even bigger installations. Polish designer of this technology says his invention is primarily designed for digital advertising, but he regularly receives requests about other “non-standard” uses of the technology. This invention is truly baffling even if it does not recreate a true science fiction hologram. We can say that it is a truly innovative technology. We feel overwhelmed by images suspended in the air. Can you imagine that in future holograms will become ubiquitous in everyday life?
