Thlamic lab from Ontario, Canada has developed a gadget that can be used in place of a computer mouse. The gadget comes in the form of an armband to control the computers with the help of the hand gestures. The working of the Myo band solely depends on the sensors embedded in it that measure the electrical activity in muscles and motion.
Controlling computers via mouse will soon be the thing of past as a gadgets are being introduced in the market that lets your hands control a computer. The gadget is more accurate than a traditional mouse and more fun to control the computers. The gadget has been developed by the Thlamic lab in Ontario, Canada. The gadget comes in the form of an armband to control the computers with the help of the hands’ gestures. The smart gadget is named Myo band. The working of the Myo band solely depends on the sensors embedded in it that measure the electrical activity and motion of the wearer’s muscles of the arms.
With the help of muscle’s activity, it can predict the movements of the arm and actions to be performed by the arm. After getting the information, it executes the tasks on the screen of the computer. It does not use any camera like Kinect to monitor the motion. The commercial sale of the gadget will probably start in September this year at a price of $149 per piece. Accoding to the company, the Myo band will be compatible with iOS, Android, Mac and Windows.
To connect with the computers and tablets, BlueTooth is used. The device operates on a Li-Ion battery that is rechargeable and can work for several days. The weight of the Myo band is as same as a common wrist watch and fits on every arm. It is worn on the upper forearm. A lot of efforts are put by the team of the thalmic labs for many months to design this sleek and innovative gadget. As the time passes, the company is determined to launch different apps for the device. This amazing gadget has enough potential to contribute in controlling TV, cars and make the people get rid of remote controls forever.
