A new wizard robot will make its appearance in the basement of German airport at Düsseldorf. The third largest airport in Germany has just been equipped with a robot to park the cars of visitors.
Ray is a bit like Alfred, the butler, who takes care of everything. If you arrive by car in the parking of Düsseldorf Airport, Ray takes care of parking the car for you. It is handy if you are in a hurry to catch your flight. Ray has been designed by the German manufacturer Serva Transport system. It is in the form of a wheeled forklift, capable of lifting and moving cars. The customer left his car in a defined area and Ray will do the rest. It analyzes the size of the vehicle park and determines the ideal location in relation to availability.
The automated parking solution of Serva is really interesting because it is connected to the database of flights from and to Düsseldorf Airport. Thus, when a client who has entrusted his car to Ray, lands in Düsseldorf, the robot automatically prepares his car so that the person can take it from a predetermined area.
This innovation will allow companies responsible for parking of cars to free 60% more parking capacity as compared to traditional parking operations.
We are really fascinated by this new invention and would like to see the robot do the work. Do you think that cars will be able to park themselves anytime soon?
