Australian photographer Ben Thomas masters the “tilt shift” technique of photography. This allows him to take amazing photos of cities like Paris, Tokyo or New York. He can focuses on an area of photograph to make it sharp while other parts of photo are blurred without digital retouching of the photo. The cities look as though miniaturised models of themselves.
With normal cameras it is impossible to have this distinction of sharp/blur in the photograph. However, using a special type of camera lens called “Perspective control lens” and using tilt-shift technique it is possible achieve this feat.
Ben Thomas has entitled this series exceptional photographs as “Cityshrinker“ . This collection contains the exceptional photographs of New York City, Las Vegas, Paris or London appearing as shrunk models. It is amazing to see the Eiffel Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco or the Statue of Liberty in New York as reduced dimension models.
